If you’re looking for a workout that combines strength building, muscle toning, and a social group experience, BODYPUMP HEAVY may become your new favorite. This is a weight-training class performed at a controlled tempo that boosts your metabolism and builds lean muscle. Based on traditional strength techniques, each class develops strength, shapes your muscles, and delivers measurable results that support your performance.
At the core of BODYPUMP HEAVY is the tempo — all movements are slow, and rest periods between sets are longer, giving you the opportunity to focus on form and technique. The class uses fundamental exercises such as squats, deadlifts, push-ups, and more, performed with a barbell and weight plates.
BODYPUMP focuses on muscular endurance: you perform many repetitions (over 1,000 in a single class) at a lighter tempo with minimal rest. This is known as the Rep Effect.
BODYPUMP HEAVY, on the other hand, combines the group training psychology with slower movements, heavier weights, and more time for recovery. This allows you to lift significantly heavier loads while staying fully focused on proper technique.
The format is designed to help you increase your strength without being limited by the pace of the music or excessive fatigue.
BODYPUMP HEAVY is suitable for everyone.
If you’re a beginner, you can start with lighter weights and learn to perform the exercises correctly and safely, without rushing. Instructors will support you and provide corrections to help you build solid technique.
If you already train with classic BodyPump or lift weights at the gym, the Heavy format gives you an opportunity to break through plateaus, challenge yourself, and become stronger.
Dress comfortably – clothes suitable for lifting and stable shoes.
Start light – focus on technique during your first classes, not the weight.
Use the rest breaks – longer pauses are part of the workout; they help recovery.
Listen to your instructor – this format allows the coach to guide you carefully and correct your form.
Be patient – strength gains take time, but with consistency and proper technique, results will follow.
